Copying and printing

You can print, copy and scan using the multifunction printers at our branches. Laminating and binding services are available through Murdoch Print.

The University uses recycled paper in all photocopiers and printers.

Use your Murdoch staff or student ID card to pay for your photocopying. Add credit to your photocopy account using the Autoloaders located at each library.

Staff and postgraduate students may charge copying and printing costs to account codes upon presentation of an approved request form.

Visiting students, staff and community members may borrow a print card from the IT Services Desk.


All photocopiers in the Geoffrey Bolton Library and Mandurah Campus Library can scan to USB.

Copyright and photocopying

The Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) allows you to photocopy a 'reasonable portion' of a copyright protected work as a 'fair dealing for research and study'.

A 'reasonable portion' is defined as :

  • Journal articles: one article per issue of a journal, two or more articles per issue if all the articles are required for the same research or course of study.
  • Text books and other published works: 10% or one chapter (whichever is greater).
