As an Open Universities Australia (OUA) student enrolled in units at Murdoch, you are automatically eligible to use:
- Findit - Search and access online books and journal articles
- Databases – Find subject specific journals and articles
- My Unit Readings - Access your unit readings
You are expected to purchase essential textbooks and Unit Readers. Most unit readings are available through My Unit Readings. However, purchasing the Unit Reader will ensure access to all required readings.
Borrowing and access
You will require your Murdoch ID and password to access some online library resources.
You will not require a library card unless you plan to borrow from the library in person or to use the Learning Common after hours. Please visit the IT Service Desk at the Geoffrey Bolton Library to apply for a library card, or complete this form.
OUA students not currently enrolled in Murdoch units may join as Community Members.
You may request scanned copies (PDF) of journal articles or book chapters to be sent to you via email.
Before making a request, check:
- My Unit Readings: the reading may already be available in digital format.
- Findit: to see if the reading is available online.
Copyright restrictions apply.The Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) (s.49) states that you may request the copying of: no more than 1 chapter (or 10%) of any one book. only one article from any one issue of a journal, also, you may request more than one article from an issue if they are all required for the same topic of study or research.)

Using other libraries
You may be eligible to join your local academic library (some electronic resources and borrowing privileges may not be available).
Please introduce yourself as a Murdoch University student at your local academic library. Take your current Murdoch ID card as proof of enrolment. You will be responsible for any fees associated with joining.
If you have trouble accessing Findit, online journals or databases that are not restricted to Australian users, try the steps outlined on our troubleshooting page.
If you can't login to My Library, My Unit Readings or library databases, try resetting your Murdoch password.
