Students with a disability or medical condition

Murdoch University Library provides specialised services and facilities for students who have a disability or medical condition.

Guide Dogs and other identified companion animals are welcome in the Library.

Registration

You must register with the Equity and Social Inclusion Office to be eligible for the library services listed below. To register:

Once you have registered, Equity office staff will advise the Library about which library services you are eligible for.

You may nominate other people to act on your behalf (collect your books, loans, photocopies, etc). Please provide us a letter with your permission, and the name of the person who will act on your behalf.

Library services (for registered students only)

Book collection service Library staff can collect books from the shelves for you.
Extended loans from the High Demand Collection may be available (subject to availability of resources)

Photocopying and printing

Journal articles

Material from print or electronic journals can be photocopied or printed on your behalf when you are on campus*.

Books

Whole books or book chapters can be photocopied or converted into suitable formats for you by Murdoch Print*.

if you need library staff to collect the book from the shelves for you.

Liaise with the Equity and Social Inclusion Office (08 9360 6084) to have the book copied or converted.
Digitisation We can email scanned copies of requested book chapters and journal articles. This service is only available to those who cannot come onto campus, and have registered for this service with the Equity and Social Inclusion Office.

An equity resource room with assistive technologies and ergonomic equipment is available.

In case of emergency or evacuation, staff will advise and help as necessary.

Using other libraries

Staff and students of Murdoch University are eligible to access and borrow from other libraries.

You will need a letter of introduction from Murdoch University’s Equity Officer before applying to use the specialist services, facilities and equipment at one of these libraries.
